Due to an internal promotion and rescoping of the team's responsibilities, a new role has been created for a Tax Accountant to join the Financial Control team in this dynamic and expanding specialist bank. Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will lead on tax related matters and support the Financial Control team on technical accounting and year end reporting.
Responsibilities will include:
* Manage all tax related matters including: Annual Corporation Tax returns / Quarterly VAT returns / R&D claims / Senior Accounting Officer notification
* Maintain the bank's Tax Policy, Tax Strategy and Tax Risk Register and their annual review cycles
* Manage the relationship manager with external tax advisors
* Prepare responses to any HMRC queries or reviews
* Monitor changes in tax legislation or accounting standards and aid impact assessments
* Support business growth through review of tax and accounting implications from new products
* Assist Head of Financial Control and Finance Manager with the production of the annual statutory accounts
You will need to be a qualified accountant with a minimum of two years' post-qualified experience. You will have relevant business tax experience gained either in a professional services firm or in-house tax environment. It is anticipated that this role would represent a good first move in-house post-qualification, offering broad exposure to a wide range of tax issues within a commercial environment. It is understood that potential candidates are unlikely to have had practical exposure across all areas of tax detailed above and there will be support in place for the successful applicant.
