We are recruiting a Financial Accountant to join a family business who are located in Kingswinford. We have a 75m turnover and we operate nationally within the UK.
This is an outstanding opportunity for someone to establish themselves in. Due to our strategic growth and service diversification, the company is now looking to hire a Financial Controller to take ownership of the Finance teams weekly/monthly reporting requirements and, in preparing the annual accounts for audit.
The main duties will be to:
Ownership of general ledgers and monthly close processes, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close procedures.
Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements (GAAP).
Approve daily accounting entries across sales ledger/purchase ledger and cash transactions, and complete month end process preparing/reviewing journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
Oversee & review all financial schedules, ledgers and balance sheet reconciliations in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Oversee & own the preparation of monthly management reporting packages for submission to Managing Director.
Management of cashflow requirements, preparation of high-level forecasts and FX currency sales.
Review of aged debtors/creditors reports and monthly update presenting to Finance Director.
Assist with year-end group audit, and lead on local UK statutory audits
Implement and maintain strong & effective financial controls and escalate issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
Identify potential process efficiencies & contribute towards a high standard, continuous improvement culture.
Maintain documentation of company-wide accounting policies and procedures.
Review, assess and document accounting and financial reporting implications of complex transactions.
Assist with special projects and ad-hoc requests, as necessary.
Coaching and mentoring of less experienced finance and accounting colleagues, as the company grows, so will the finance team.
The successful candidate will have the following skills:
Qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
Experience in both owner-managed environments and larger SMEs/corporates.
Minimum 5 years post-qualified experience in a UK business
Strong skills in reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, compliance, leadership, and strategic planning
Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, adaptability, flexibility, time management and integrity
In-depth understanding of financial systems and reporting
Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage senior leadership
ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or equivalent experience
