Job Title: Part-Time SEN English Teacher (GCSE & A-Level) Location: Hospital School, Chelsea Position: Part-Time, 3 Days a Week, Fixed Term About the Role: We are seeking a Part-Time SEN English Teacher to join our dedicated team at a Hospital School in Chelsea. This is a 3-day-a-week, fixed-term position, providing an exciting opportunity to teach English to students studying for GCSE and A-Level qualifications while they receive medical treatment. You will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, adapting lessons to ensure each student can succeed academically despite their medical challenges. As an SEN teacher, you will help students engage with the English curriculum, preparing them for exams and supporting their educational needs in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This role is ideal for someone with experience in GCSE and A-Level English teaching, particularly within a special educational needs context. Key Responsibilities: Teach English at GCSE and A-Level, providing high-quality lessons tailored to the needs of students with special educational needs. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and strategies to support students with learning difficulties or medical conditions. Provide one-to-one support for students, helping them engage with their learning and prepare for their assessments. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff and teaching assistants, to ensure the students' academic and emotional needs are met. Track and report on student progress, providing feedback to parents and caregivers and ensuring students stay on track with their learning goals. Maintain an inclusive classroom environment, fostering confidence and encouraging students to actively participate in their lessons. Support students through the exam preparation process, ensuring they are well-prepared for their GCSE and A-Level English assessments. Essential Criteria: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching GCSE and A-Level English. Proven experience working with students with special educational needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students facing health challenges. Ability to differentiate teaching and resources to meet the needs of individual students. A patient, empathetic approach to teaching, with a focus on creating a supportive learning environment. Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage and track student progress effectively. Desirable Criteria: Experience teaching in a hospital school or similar healthcare education setting. Familiarity with strategies for supporting students with medical conditions and SEN.
