Fourblue have an exciting opportunity for a Junior/Graduate Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic Connections team, where you’ll play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems for a variety of projects.
Role Overview:
As a Junior/Graduate Electrical Design Engineer, you will work across 33kV, 11kV, and LV systems, ensuring designs meet industry standards and regulations. This role offers the perfect opportunity for someone with some previous experience in electrical design to further develop their skills and progress within the field. You’ll have the chance to work alongside experienced engineers, expand your knowledge, and take on increasing responsibility as you develop your career.
Responsibilities of the Design Engineer:
* Carry out detailed design calculations for 33kV/11kV/433V systems, including load flow studies, short circuit analysis, and protective coordination
* Create and review electrical drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities
* Work closely with project teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems
* Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and protection devices
* Conduct desktop and, where necessary, site surveys to collect essential data for designs
* Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for clients and internal stakeholders
* Keep up to date with the latest electrical engineering standards, technologies, and industry trends
Criteria for the Design Engineer:
* A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
* Experience in electrical design, specifically in 33kV, 11kV, and LV systems
* Strong understanding of DNO/IDNO standards and G81 documents
* Solid knowledge of electrical engineering principles, industry standards (BS EN, IEC), and regulations
* Proficiency in electrical design software such as DigSilent, AutoCAD, Windebut, Amtech/Trimble
