A risk and compliance officer provides advice to various stakeholders within an insurance company on the various legal and regulatory rules they must follow – such as those about data security or preventing money laundering.
Your role could involve:
1. Identifying and analysing risks and compliance issues
2. Undertaking risk analysis to identify areas where risk can be mitigated to ensure we remain fully compliant
3. Preparing information in the form of reports for stakeholders
4. Undertaking compliance and risk research activities
5. Delivering risk and compliance projects
6. Supporting regulatory correspondence and requests for information
7. Using digital technology in the management of risk and compliance

2. Learn about the legal and regulatory frameworks relative to the insurance industry
3. Understand how to plan and organise workloads to meet both personal and team performance targets
4. Identify ways to reduce and mitigate incidents of non-compliance

6. Identify your own training needs and seek feedback to improve your performance and the service you deliver
7. Learn how to keep up to date with relevant legal, regulatory and other changes affecting the industry
8. Develop, build and maintain tools to support our automation and continuous improvement journey
The role is interesting and challenging, giving you the chance to gain broad experience. Alongside your day-to-day work, you'll also complete a Level 3 Compliance and Risk Officer Apprenticeship as well as an insurance industry recognised Certificate in Insurance via the Chartered Insurance Institute. This takes 18 months to complete.
