Senior Quantity Surveyor – Residential Construction
Location: West & East Yorkshire (initial project in Bridlington)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + Car/Allowance + Package
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established and growing main contractor. This role is ideal for an experienced QS with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the industry, particularly within residential construction, including care homes, apartments, and housing developments.
The first project the successful candidate will be involved in is a two-year, £25M scheme in Bridlington. Currently undergoing archaeological examinations due to the discovery of ancient pottery, animal bones, and a cremation site, the project is expected to clear by May, with roads and plot assignments scheduled for late May/early June. We are looking to bring the right candidate on board as soon as possible.
The Role:
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects to ensure cost efficiency and profitability. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to deliver high-quality developments on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:

Overseeing cost management, valuations, and project budgeting.

Managing procurement processes and subcontractor relationships.

Conducting risk analysis and value engineering.
*
Preparing and submitting financial reports and cost forecasts.
*
Ensuring projects are delivered within financial targets.
*
Attending site meetings and liaising with stakeholders.
*
Managing variations, claims, and final accounts.
Requirements:

Main Contractor experience is essential. Suitable backgrounds may include companies such as Kier, Wates, Bowmer & Kirkland, Galliford Try, Henry Boot, Caddick Construction, and Tolent.

Minimum 10 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor.
*
Strong background in residential construction, including care homes, apartments, and housing schemes.
*
Excellent commercial acumen and contract management skills.
*
Ability to manage budgets and deliver projects within financial constraints.
*
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
*
Full UK driving licence.
Package & Benefits:
