We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and self-motivated registered pharmacy technician to join our friendly Pharmacy Education and Training Team at York Hospital.
You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised and have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Candidates must be committed to providing a high-quality level of training and education to new and existing staff, to ensure a patient-focused service.
Full training will be provided, with key responsibilities gradually introduced as experience is gained. Accuracy checking accreditation is desirable but candidates without this will be enrolled onto an ACT course if successful at interview.
Main duties of the job
The role of the successful candidate will be varied and fulfilling and includes:
* Completion of departmental inductions for new starters.
* Working closely with the Principal Pharmacy Technician to develop and enhance current training packages.
* Acting as an educational supervisor for assigned pre-registration pharmacy technicians.
* Delivering dispensing training to pharmacy staff.
* Supporting the completion of appraisals, sickness absence reporting and rota planning for allocated staff.
* Review and implementation of SOPs as required.
* Supporting the dispensary ACT rota on a weekly basis.
* Supporting MMT and dispensary services on an ad hoc basis to maintain competence.
* Supporting careers events for local schools and colleges and supporting work experience and university placements on site.
Candidates must be effective communicators, approachable and committed to supporting staff with their training; adapting to individuals' needs and changing working demands.
Please note some occasional cross-site working will be required for this role.

Person specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / QCF Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* QCF Level 4 or above in a qualification relevant to the post.
Experience & Knowledge Required
* At least one year, post-qualification experience.
* Supervision and mentoring of junior staff.
Skills & Attributes
* Good communication & interpersonal skills.
* Participated in the implementation of changes in service, products and / or systems.
* Problem solving.
* Able to use a range of computer programmes relevant to the post.
* Audit of practice and / or of the impact of a change in the way the service is delivered.

DBS Checks
Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking.
