Join us as Contract Manager, with law as your core skillset and support our operation within the Business Unit High Voltage in Birmingham, UK. With analytical, hands-on and autonomous approach, you contribute to the successful performance of Contract Management during tendering phase and project executions. Please note this position is of a hybrid nature (2/3 days office), with some limited travel in the UK & Ireland. Note we are unable to provide visa support for this position.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Ensures the portfolio of contracts in the business follows contract and claim management methodologies in accordance with internal standard procedures.
* Reviews and comments on commercial and technical tender terms and conditions. Develops contract strategy for the UK market based on Hitachi Energy’s policies, customer requirements, and the overall execution strategy taking into account risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.
* Identifies the contract baseline (including terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the contract) and highlights areas of potential risk. Ensures timely and accurate execution of commercial aspects in portfolio of contracts (i.e. payments, claims, variation orders, warranties, provisions, guarantees, etc.). Attends Risk Review for the UK and is accountable to fulfill contracts Golden rules and to meet the highest contractual standards.
* Verifies that both parties to the contract have fulfilled their contractual obligations and there are no responsibilities outstanding. Assesses success of the contract and determines if there are any lessons learned for future contracting. Documents and communicates to all appropriate parties any deficiencies found as part of the closeout process.
* Analyses prime contract terms to highlight areas of potential opportunity and risk, such as ambiguities, omissions and conflicts, as work proceeds. Develops and implements risk mitigation and opportunity plans in concert with Project Manager and/or Sales Manager or FES Management.
* Performs overall analysis of incoming claims (Customers, Suppliers/Subcontractors and Consortium Partners), development of defense strategies, preparing response/correspondences, counterclaims, and related project claims strategies.
* Analyzes legal issues requested by local business units and local group functions and provides general contractual advice and support.
* Delivers contractual training and is able to deal directly with internal clients and external parties.
Your Background
* Degree in law or equivalent.
* 3-6 Years in Contract Management functions and processes in project execution of EPC energy projects or similar industrial plants.
* Contract Managers with Site Contract Management experience of 2-3 years will be preferred.
* Experience in working within internationally staffed teams and with international contractual partners.
* Solid experience in change management, claim management, and contract-related legal issues and the possible effects in the relevant areas of responsibility regarding proposal stage and/or project execution.
* Behavior and dealing with foreign cultures (Ethical Conduct).
* Systematic and structured work style.
