Plastic Mouldings Northern is a leading manufacturer and distributor of plastic packaging and mouldings. Established over 23 years ago, we have become a market leader with our UK customer base for the manufacture and supply of protective packaging and vac form components. This is a permanent role and located at our Bishop Auckland sites.
The role will work closely with the Managing Director, Sales Manager and all key staff across all departments including internal and external sales teams, ensuring continuous improvement of projects into the facility including the procurement of raw materials relevant to NPI, and services to meet customer demand. Taking a lead role in strategical project planning.
Your responsibilities will be:
1. Project management (50%)
2. Purchasing (30%)
3. Sales, improvement (20%)
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinating the sourcing function, a key member of the project team for NPI.
* Supporting a driven process of improvement through cross-functional departments.
* Leading essential change management activity.
* Supporting and forging close interaction with all departments, customers, and supplier base.
* Project sourcing within new product development.
* Driving supplier-related activities to ensure projects are launched OTIF, with right first-time quality and cost mindset.
* Attending collective meetings to enhance awareness of project and NPI progress.
* Attending and contributing to production and sales meetings, to highlight sourcing and project updates.
* Purchasing challenged through cost-aware continuous improvement campaigns.
* Driving efficiencies linked to process flow and NPI throughout the site.
* Enhancing communication through departmental awareness and coordination of processes.
* Negotiating with suppliers and controlling contract coverage.
* Continuous improvement and the ability to collate R&D info live as it happens.
* Managing project planning to ensure that best practices are adopted.
* Monitoring project plans to identify potential issues, mitigating where possible.
* Promptly informing the relevant departments of changes to current project schedules.
* Determining equipment and raw materials needed to achieve project OTIF Plan.
* Coordinating with key functions, including Production Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor, Customer Service team, accounts, and other Key Stakeholders to ensure all key elements to achieve project success.
* Ensuring projects are effectively optimized to support customer O.T.I.F requirements.
* Recommending viable solutions to reduce production costs as well as improve production processes and product quality.
* Raising Purchase Orders for Key commodities that support the project and eventually production plan, including Raw Material, Packaging.
* Challenging and driving cost downs on commodities.
General:

To be successful in this role you will have:
* Experience within a busy and dynamic manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of planning projects and MS Office proficiency.
* Knowledge of packaging industry (desirable).
* Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management (desirable).
* Ability to retrieve, analyze, and present data, demonstrating understanding and offering solutions.
* Hands-on commitment to getting the job done.
* Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.
* Willingness to continually learn and improve, adopting a continuous improvement mindset.
* Excellent communication/people skills.
* Good people management skills.

Schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday, no weekends, flexible start, and finish times depending on commute and circumstances.
