HMP Brinsford are looking to fill long-term temporary contract jobs for day shift OSGs.
Based on a working pattern of 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. £ per hour inclusive of holiday.
Overview of the position:
The OSG role is in a unique working environment with a strong sense of team working. Always in demand, you could benefit from long-term contracts and there is also potential, once trained, to work in other prisons both locally and nationally.
Purpose of the OSG role:
As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment.

Supervision of visitors
Stores duties
Patrolling Perimeter and grounds
Routine administrative work
Escorting contractors & vehicles
Contractor Tool checks
Switchboard duties
Searching Buildings
Canteen and kit exchange duties
Searching prisoners property
Rub down searching of prisoners
Health & Safety Procedures
Radio operation
Supervising small selected prisoner work parties
Emergency Control Room (ECR) andmunications Room
Experience:
No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role.
The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potentialpromises and risks, you will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the followingpetencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, Building relationships and team working,municating effectively, developing self and others.
Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.
Security Clearance required:
All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure. You must hold a Valid Passport or Full Birth Certificate & Photo Driving License in your current address.
