Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Consultant in Anaesthesia with a special interest in Paediatric Anaesthesia. The successful applicant would join a team of 7 (FTE) paediatric subspecialty anaesthetists who undertake a mix of paediatric and adult practice and cover a paediatric anaesthetic on call rota.
A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration. If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

Main duties of the job
The appointee will take his/her share of clinical responsibilities within the Department of anaesthesia. This will include provision for peri-operative assessment.
In addition to duties within sub-speciality, the appointee will be required to provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to his/her training and experience.
There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1:7. This provides a paediatric anaesthetic service for out-of-hours emergency surgical cases, and for the initial management and stabilisation of critically ill children (together with paediatricians and adult intensivists) prior to retrieval by the Paediatric Retrieval Service (PaNDRS).
