Job summary We are looking to appoint a motivated person to work within the busy Clinical Therapy department at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. The Orthotic Therapy assistant whilst working as part of the Orthotic team is also responsible for their own case load of patients. You will be required to input clinical records into the therapy information system full training will be given on clinical pathways and IT systems. The post holder will provide a key role within the Orthotics Department maintaining and running their own patient caseload under the supervision of the senior Orthotist. You will receive full training in all aspects of assessing and supplying patients with various Orthosis, working closely with the current Orthotic team to ensure effective treatment of patients. Past experience in working with patients would be of benefit. You will need to be able to work in a calm, logical and methodical way and have effective communication skills including the ability to liaise with suppliers and patients in a friendly and professional manner. Applicants are required to have a minimum of 2 G.C.S.E.'s or equivalent at Grade C or above, one of which is English. The post requires an appropriate NVQ Level III in Health and Social Care, applicants without this award will be required to successfully complete this within 2 years. Main duties of the job The main responsibilities of the role include: Assessment of patients. Development of treatment plan (own management and also in conjunction with Team lead and senior team members). Fitting Orthotic devices. Completion of patient notes and any necessary orders for suppliers. Give advice to patients related to their treatment and in relation to NHS health objectives. Working in a multi disciplinary manner with other members of the Orthotic team and other healthcare professionals. Able to work autonomously on own case load Take part in yearly personnel appraisals as part of ongoing development.
