The post holder will:
Work autonomously, to participate in the maintenance, evaluation, staff training and documentation of all point of care testing equipment under the guidance of an HCPC registered BMS.
Ensure that equipment is maintained and controlled so as to be available in order to provide a rapid and timely turnaround time for patient care for community devices.
Make decisions as to the viability of equipment to be fit for purpose based upon procedures and personal findings.
Participate in the provision of External Quality Assessment schemes.
Upkeep data-based information such as registers, standard operating procedures, analyser maintenance programmes.
A degree of flexible working across community sites primarily during the core day.

Key Responsibilities
Main Duties:
To maintain Point of Care equipment as directed ensuring all protocols and quality standards are met.
To work in accordance with departmental policies and standard operating procedures to maintain high standards of patient safety.
Following protocols and based upon personal investigation to remove from use any equipment / analyte not deemed to meet the required quality standards.
Be able to travel independently to any site where there is a LabKit presence and be able to maintain and assist the POCT service.
To ensure good stock control of consumables for all LabKit sites and ensuring a centralised stock is present at other BSPS Point of Care site.
To order agreed consumables from manufacturers to agreed financial values.
To directly liaise with the manufacturers of equipment where problems occur that require manufacturer’s intervention.
To maintain good communication within the Point of Care team in order to maximise efficiency through agreed priorities and to achieve the aims of Point of Care analysis on a daily basis.
Personnel:
To train clinical users of varying staff grade on all Point of Care equipment within the LabKit and Point of care service.
To use agreed processes and competency measures when assessing staff in training.
To maintain up to date records of training and standard operating procedures (SOP).
To contribute to the continued review of training processes and training material.
