About us:
Central Bedfordshire is an ambitious authority, determined to be an exemplary one. Our strategic location and high quality of life mean we are one of the fastest growing areas in the country.
As a council we face the same challenges every business does - investing in the right places and delivering great results. Except for us, it’s all about our 289,000 residents. We’re totally focussed on helping to improve their lives and making Central Bedfordshire a great place to live and work.
We have set values and principles to represent the way we work and how we operate as an organisation. You can view a list of these in detail.
This is a great time to join us on our journey.
Community Reablement:
You might be a student looking for weekend work, or have children and wider family commitments and are looking to give something back to your local community. You might be thinking of retiring and but are not quite ready to head to the golf course.
We really care about a work life balance and want to support people with a range of flexible work patterns that fit around you.
Our reablement service supports people to return to their homes following a stay in hospital when they might otherwise be unable to. As a Community Reablement Worker, you will work in partnership with people in their own homes to help them regain their independence in carrying out those essential day to day tasks that they may now struggle with. Your commitment will help them regain their confidence and independence following a plan tailored to their specific individual needs to help them relearn skills that have been identified as important to their quality of life.
You might be helping them get up in the morning and make their first cup of tea of the day and then later supporting them to regain cooking skills or administering their medication. You’re not doing tasks for them; you’re helping them to do things for themselves once again.
Experience and qualifications are always desirable, but for this role your personal values and attitude are most important. Helping people will come naturally to you and you will find reward in supporting people to regain their independence.
You’ll have great communication skills, be flexible in your approach and be a great companion to those you work with. A driving licence and access to your own car is essential for the role, and all mileage can be claimed at a great rate per mile.
In return, we will offer you:
1. A flexible rota that you can make plans around
2. Electric vehicle leasing scheme
3. A supportive and friendly management / team
4. Enhanced pay rates for evenings, weekends and bank holiday
5. iPad and iPhone
6. Generous mileage rate
7. Opportunity for support to gain professional qualifications in Health and Social Care plus Care certificate, moving & handling, medication, safeguarding, mental capacity, long-term conditions and more.

11. Staff network and support groups
12. Annual leave allowance 25 days + statutory holidays rising to 32 days with length of service.
