About The BUSY School… The BUSY School is part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 45 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services. The BUSY School is an independent Special Assistance School with 9 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes. Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12. Description About the position Support students to engage with The BUSY Schools whole school program and complete associated administrative tasks to support students’ pathways. The role is proactive in forming relationships with students, parents/carers, school staff, registered training organisations (RTOs), trainers and employers to monitor attendance and course completion, and support enrolment into identified courses. This role is permanent full time, due to commence Term 1, 2025 (January 13th) and you are only required to work 40 weeks a year (term time) with 4 weeks annual leave. The proposed salary below is calculated annually accordingly in relation to working time. Document relevant information into the school’s student management system to maintain currency of student attendance and thus engagement in their individualised pathway. Advise relevant stakeholders of amendments to attendance records due to late notification. Collect and coordinate data relating to student engagement, follow up with parents/carers and students who are absent, monitor student programs, and provide information to campus leadership, teachers and the industry team. Monitor attendance and liaise with the Education Youth Worker to address issues relating to students experiencing concerns that prevent their engagement at school. Provide administrative support including assistance at Reception, assistance in managing variations to student timetables, including school-based apprenticeships, work experience, off campus activities, etc. Skills And Experiences About you Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships and work as part of a team with broad range of internal and external stakeholders. Able to self-manage completion of simultaneous tasks and meet deadlines.
