If you are a newly qualified GeneralPractitioner (within the last two years and not held a substantive post), anexciting opportunity has arisen to join our multi-disciplinary PCN team. We are a dynamic, forward thinking PCN teamwho are passionate about developing and delivering excellent quality localservices to meet the needs of our patients.Due to the changes in the ARRS Scheme to introduce General Practitionerswe are looking to expand our team by seeking to employ a newly qualifiedGeneral Practitioner to work alongside our practices and PCN staff.
Main duties of the job
To perform as an autonomous general practitionerworking independently and with other health care professionals to assess,diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within a primary caresetting.
Provide expert professional advice to patients,carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.
To be professionally accountable and responsiblefor all elements of clinical practice in accordance with the GMC code ofconduct ensuring the safety of patients and quality of their care is primary.
The post holder will need to be capable of independenttravel across the West Knowsley area and work flexibly to meet the needs of theBusiness.

West Knowsley Primary Care Network comprises of 7 practices across the Western part of Knowsley with a combined list of 51,000 patients.
The practices work together along side our patients and colleagues in the wider Health and Social Care system to improve the care and outcomes of our patients population.

Job responsibilities
In accordance with the practice rota, as agreed,the post-holder will make themself available to undertake a variety of dutiesincluding surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visitingpatients at home, checking and signing/authorising repeat prescriptions anddealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion
Clinically examine and assess patient needs froma physiological and psychological perspective, and plan clinical careaccordingly referring patients to other services/agencies in a timely manner,utilising Practice, PCN and local guidelines
Recognise the need for and be able to performand interpret investigatory procedures, including laboratory and radiology.
Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriatelyto assist the patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, includinginitiation of effective emergency care
Ensure appropriate follow up of patients
Support patients to adopt health promotionstrategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care
Make professional, autonomous decisions inrelation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from otherhealth care workers within the organisation
Assess the health care needs of patients withundifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
Screen patients for disease risk factors andearly signs of illness
In consultation with patients and in line withcurrent practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health
Admit or discharge patients to and from thecaseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate
Record clear and contemporaneous consultationnotes to agreed standards
Collect data for audit purposes
To be involved in the provision of education,supervision and training to GP Registrars and other staff
Compile and issue computer-generated acute andrepeat prescriptions
Prescribe in accordance with the practiceprescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
Be aware of your duties and responsibilitiesregarding current legislation and adhere to our policies and procedures onSafeguarding Children and Safeguarding Adults
The post-holder will be required to visitpatients during surgery time in an emergency if clinically indicated
The post-holder may need to undertake On Callsessions and participate in the Enhanced Access Service
The post-holder will undertake fair share ofhome visiting sessions per week as allocated

1. Experience of working in a primary care environment
2. Experience of continued professional development
3. Experience of QOF and clinical audit
4. Newly Qualified General Practitioner (under 2 years from qualification)
5. Not previously been substantively employed at a GP Practice, or as a Partner
6. General understanding of the primary care contract
