Job Overview
We are looking for a caring and compassionate person who is able to work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a high standard of individualised nursing care to our patients. You will need excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team, prioritising your workload to ensure the best outcomes for patients. You will ensure that your own actions support the care, protection and well-being of individuals, and ensure their privacy and dignity at all times.
Main Duties of the Job
* Duties include monitoring and recording of vital signs, escorting patients off the ward for investigations/scans, assisting with personal care and nutritional support.
* You will need to be flexible as this post includes days, nights and weekend working.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
You will work as a team to assist and perform clinical responsibilities as delegated by our qualified nursing staff, including though not limited to:
* Observing, monitoring and recording patients' conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations, oxygen saturations and weight.
* Providing personalised care such as infection prevention and control, food, personal hygiene and overall reassurance, comfort and safety.
* Administrative duties such as answering the telephone, taking messages and referring to the Staff Nurse for instructions, to take part as requested in ward/unit meetings, encouraging effective communications between other staff.
* Assisting with the undertaking and implementation of risk assessments.
* Communicating with Staff, Patients, Relatives and Carers.
* Recognising and responding to situations within the work area and reporting to the nurse in charge while acknowledging your own limitations and seeking advice of senior staff as required.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent qualification/experience
* Care certificate
* English & Mathematics at GCSE grade A-C (9-4) or level 2 functional skills
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience in a care environment or able to demonstrate a caring nature/life experience
* Understands the need for strict confidentiality
* Working knowledge of complex care needs of some individuals/families including Safeguarding Children & Adults, Domestic Abuse and Mental Health
Specific Skills
* Basic computer/keyboard skills
* Fine motor skills – for venepuncture, phlebotomy and other clinical tasks
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Able to prioritise and organise work
* Able to work under instruction, under pressure and as part of a team
* Record keeping competency in handwritten and electronic records
