Located in the centre of Cambridge, Trinity College is the largest of the Cambridge Colleges.
The 36 acres of garden include diverse shrub, herbaceous and annual borders as well as an impressive collection of trees. From fine turf to recreational lawns surrounded by wilder areas, with an emphasis on biodiversity, the grounds embody a wide spectrum of ecosystems. The gardens provide a calm and tranquil space for the wellbeing and activities of the College community comprising of students, Fellowship and staff.
The role
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Gardener to work closely with the Head Gardener, Deputy Head Gardener and other Senior Gardeners to plan, manage and maintain our diverse gardens. The role will involve a full gamut of horticultural tasks, using varied machinery and equipment. Conservation, preservation, sustainability and biodiversity are integral to our work and you will have the opportunity to assist in the development of plans and future projects.
Candidates should be experienced gardeners, with detailed plant knowledge, who have worked to a high horticultural standard using a range of machinery and equipment in a variety of gardens. Experience of guiding other gardeners – leading by example and supporting the team’s training and development. Excellent organisation and communication skills are key, with a good knowledge and application of health and safety plus a flexible approach to challenges.
The package
A salary of £30,223 per annum is offered with additional benefits which include a subsidised gym, cycle to work scheme, free lunch when on duty in College and private health and dental insurance, subject to eligibility.
