We are working with a national youth homelessness Charity to recruit for a Senior Finance Officer to oversee the purchase and sales ledger function. The postholder will support the Financial Controller and Finance Director with the smooth running of the finance department.
* Lead the day to day operations of the sales ledger function
* Responsible for ensuring invoices are raised on time and in line with agreements with funders
* Responsible for the collection and recording of all non-rental income, in accordance with the charity’s income and internal controls policies
* Main point of contact for queries regarding non-rental income sales invoices
* Be responsible for analysing the aged debts report and ensuring credit control procedures are followed
* Monitor all cash transactions and ensure they are recorded on the Finance system on a timely basis
* Work closely with petty cash holders to ensure floats are being held and accounted for in accordance with the Charity’s internal controls and procedures
* Maintain tight control of all cash held in floats, transit, or bank accounts
* To lead on the day to day operations of the purchase ledger function
* To manage the preparation of the weekly payment run
* Verify the completeness and accuracy of non-payroll costs in the accounts through the reconciliation of monthly control accounts and the ‘proof in total’ reconciliations
* Review nominal ledger activity and post journals for on a timely basis to ensure ledger information is accurate and complete in line with month end timetable
* Responsible for the accurate preparation of month end reconciliations for allocated balance sheet codes including Fixed Assets, bank accounts, debtors, accrued and deferred income
* Support Finance Director and Financial Controller on the production of the monthly management accounts
Ideal candidate profile:
* Fully Qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
* Prior experience working for a not for profit Organisation
* Strong financial accounting and year end experience
* Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
