Job overview
The Respiratory Team within Whiston Hospital is looking for Band 5 registered nurses to deliver high-quality care for respiratory patients. Our units are both acute and fast-paced environments. No two days are the same, and staff continuously face new challenges and experiences that help them grow and develop within their role.
The Respiratory Service consists of 3 Respiratory wards: 2B, 2C, and 2D. We care for patients with a variety of conditions, including lung cancer, asthma, COPD, TB, type 1 and type 2 respiratory failure, pleural effusions, pneumothorax, tracheostomies, and PE’s. Within 2C, you will also have the opportunity to develop your skills in NIV (non-invasive ventilation).
The Respiratory Directorate is an excellent environment for experienced nurses. They may not have previous experience within respiratory but can bring knowledge and skills from other specialties. The same opportunities are available to experienced nurses.
Nurses with previous respiratory experience will have the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and skills and gain experience within certain aspects of respiratory care that may not have been available to them in their previous role. This includes caring for patients in our high-dependent units, where patients may require non-invasive ventilation therapy.
