To provide efficient and accurate dispensing of medication to the patients and to ensure effective financial control of the Dispensary. To take responsibility for your own work and ensure completion of all tasks in good assist other colleagues as required.
Main duties of the job
Provide mentorship and guidance for trainee dispensary staff apprentices and students.
Line manages the dispensary staff in accordance with current practice policy.
Ensure team members complete significant event forms correctly and in a timely manner.
To oversee training of new Dispensers.
To lead the team of Dispensers and organise a weekly rota or deputise the latter as required.
To take responsibility for developing their own clinical competence leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace.
To carry out appraisals and identify training needs based on competencies required for the DSQS and complete the annual DSQS as required.
Arrange staff meetings and or training as required.
Ensuring that all returned controlled drugs are disposed of and recorded correctly.
Responsible for maintaining efficient cost-effective stock control minimising wastage through out-of-date stock.
In conjunction with the Medicines Manager ensure controlled drugs are dispensed with in accordance with practice policy.
With the Medicines Manager review the latest guidance ensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE CQC etc guidance.
To liaise with the Lead GP and Medicines Manager for Dispensing over formularies.
To ensure and maintain effective distribution of dispensing supplies to the Surgery.

Staff Management:

1. To be responsible for the commercial buying of drugs and Surgery sundries for the Practice
2. To gain information and negotiate sales terms from pharmaceutical companies and or their representatives concerning the commercial details of their products
3. To maintain cost effective supplies of those drugs that are purchased centrally on behalf of the Practice
4. To devise and explain to each Dispenser the mechanisms for ordering from the central supplies
5. To ensure and maintain effective distribution of dispensing supplies to the Surgery
6. To perform computer searches as required with the clinical computer system and present information in an analytical way
7. Reconcile invoices
8. Ensure prescriptions are collated, endorsed and submitted to Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA) each month and associated analysis
Ensure SOPs are in place and reviewed on at least an annual basis
9. Ensure team members complete significant event forms correctly and in a timely manner
10. Responsible for maintaining efficient, cost effective stock control, minimising wastage through out-of-date stock
Wholesaling
To become GDP trained by the Responsible Person and become a member of the wholesaling team
To become involved in weekly ordering of stock, receiving of medications and arranging delivery invoices
To adhere to the GDP Training Manual and oversee the process at both Market Harborough and Husbands Bosworth Sites.

Overseeing the Dispensary teams annual leave, liaising with the Practice Manager where appropriate
37. Complete and send monthly PPA claims
General Duties:
Attend monthly staff meetings and other mandatory training events
Take part in the annual performance appraisal system and undertake such training as is deemed necessary by the practice
Perform other tasks as required by the Doctors and Managers which are reasonable and in line with the principles of this job description

Essential
38. GCSE (or equivalent) English and Mathematics at Grade C or above.
39. Qualified Dispenser (Pharmacy Technician, NVQ Level 3 or 2)
Desirable
