An opportunity has arisen for the role of Deputy Head of Audiology / Clinical Lead (Principal Clinical Scientist/Audiologist).
A vacancy exists for a deputy head of audiology who has expertise in one or more specialist areas of audiology (for example, paediatric audiology or diagnostic audio-vestibular).
Our Audiology department is progressive and offers the full range of services, including neonatal hearing assessment and rehabilitation, a full paediatric audiology service that includes management of school hearing screening, an extended direct referral system for patients over the age of sixteen years, and audiology-led referrals to radiology.
There will be opportunities for further development and training for those applicants that may need additional training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide expert advice and line manage all staff, ensuring that PDRs, CPD, and performance are managed appropriately.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and / or knowledge
Essential
* B.Sc Audiology (or equivalent) & M.Sc Audiology or equivalent
* Registration as a clinical scientist (HCPC) or as an Audiologist (RCCP/ AHCS)
* Research experience within the field of audiology
* Significant demonstrable management experience and recognised qualification in management at master's level or equivalence
Desirable
* Doctoral level qualification e.g., Ph.D or Higher Specialist Scientific Training Programme (HSST)
* Higher Specialist Training Register (Academy of Healthcare Science) or working towards HSST equivalence
* Publications in peer-reviewed journals
* Involvement in All Wales duties
Experience
Essential
* Extensive experience in the audiology profession
* Specialised / Expert experience in one or more specialist areas of audiology (e.g., paediatrics, adult rehabilitation, or diagnostic audio-vestibular work)
* Experience of managing staff e.g., PDR, performance management, and job planning
Desirable
* Experience of management of a subsection/service of a large department
* Wide experience of all NHS Wales fields within audiology
* Experience of workforce redesign and large-scale management and clinical projects
