Personal Wellbeing Advisor
Salary: £26,460 per annum plus benefits.
Successful candidates will be eligible for our Development Progression Scale and annual salary reviews.
Location: HMP Ranby, HMP Nottingham and HMP Fosse Way - As this role involves regular travel between prisons and community hubs, access to transport is a requirement of the role.
Rebuilding your life after prison is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it's possible. That's where you come in.
We're looking for a Personal Well-being Advisor - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it's about rolling up your sleeves and pro-actively supporting someone on their journey.
This is a demanding role; you'll be working in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who can be reluctant to engage. But when you help someone break the cycle and you see them take real steps toward transforming their life, it's a great feeling.
About the Role:
You'll mainly be working with males 18 + as they transition from prison back into the community. You will be working collaboratively with pre-release teams and other departments within the prison to complete personal wellbeing assessments and create tailored action plans for individuals approaching release. You will work with people on a 1-2-1 basis but there may be opportunities to deliver group work sessions both within the prison and in the community.
You will need to be able to manage a caseload which means you'll be able to juggle multiple individuals at once, ensuring each person gets the support they need, while keeping meticulous records of every interaction. Why? Because progress only counts when it's measured.
You'll primarily be based within the prisons and often be able to plan your own schedule. However, your role will also involve you working in probation offices, and our own community hubs, it's a challenging role where no day will be the same.
What You'll Be Doing:
* Pre-release planning: Meet with individuals in custody to create a personalised action plan for their transition back into society, identifying specific needs and barriers.
* Action Planning: You will formulate a detailed action plan that shapes the support they receive post release by their assigned Mentor, helping them reintegrate through practical well-being activities, from housing and employment to mental health and social connections.
* Caseload management: You'll manage multiple individuals, balancing their needs while keeping up with all the related admin.
* Quality Recording: Keep thorough, up-to-date records of all your work on our IT system, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks and progress is properly tracked.
* Group & 121 Delivery: Deliver wellbeing support in various settings, either through tailored support sessions or utilising set interventions and learning materials.
What We're Looking For:
* Relationship Building: You're able to connect with people at all levels, engaging with key stakeholders within Probation and building relationships with Service Users in a way that's genuine, promotes a sense of trust and is non-judgmental, with particular attention to confidentiality and maintenance of boundaries.
* Service Ambassador: Regular engagement with relevant organisations to enhance their understanding of the service. Promoting the benefits of the service and identifying those who may want to be referred.
* Safeguarding awareness: You are supporting complex individuals at a challenging time in their lives and will need to be able to identify any safeguarding risks. You will be fully supported following any challenging interventions.
* IT and Administrative skills: Keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure client progress and ensure effective interventions.
* Organisation: You can handle a busy caseload and stay on top of detailed records.
* Resilience: This role can be challenging, and results may take time, but you are the kind of person who stays committed and sees things through.
* Flexibility: You'll need to be comfortable with change, as referral flows & prisoner releases change frequently.
* Transport: You'll need the means to travel between prisons and community sites each day. You will be given a base (agreed at offer stage) and travel to other offices/prisons will be reimbursed.
