The Client
Our client is an industry leading provider of Structural Insurance with an international presence and a respected brand. With a UK wide presence in the Insurance and Warranty sector, my client is an award-winning company and as such is always looking for talented individuals to join them. With an in-house training team, they focus on developing the team they have in place and offering all the support those joining them are usually longing for.
The Responsibilities
1. To undertake assessments of Structural designs for a wide range of building types, with particular focus on their foundation design. This will include reviews from philosophy to detailed drawings and calculations.
2. Review drawings, calculations and other related technical information to mitigate risk related to the foundation design.
3. Liaison with clients, consultants and other external and internal stakeholders on technical matters - must ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to.
4. Provide technical advice on claims as well as undertaking site inspections and assessments when necessary on more complex claims to assess causes and identify remedial works.
5. Provide advice to the Marketing and Underwriting Departments on technical areas so that team members are fully informed when dealing with potential clients.
6. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required.
The Requirements
1. Qualified Engineer (CEng. MIStructE, or similar) and minimum degree (BEng/BSc/MEng) in Geotechnical / Civil / Structural related discipline.
2. The individual will be a civil, geotechnical or structural engineer with essential foundation design experience in the following areas: pile design, raft foundation design, ground improvement techniques.
3. Post qualification experience is essential.
4. In depth technical knowledge of Structural Engineering principles applicable to Building Regulations, British Standards, Eurocodes and other recognised construction standards.
5. Have technical expertise in geotechnical engineering with a demonstrable understanding of the underlying principles.
6. Basic understanding of general insurance principles and terminology desirable.
7. Understanding of Building Regulations and associated legislation.
8. Ability to undertake site inspections to assess compliance with the approved design, Technical Manual, and Codes of Practice.
9. Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team.
10. Ability to create good working relationships with other construction professionals and to deal effectively with members of the public.
11. The ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters.
12. Working knowledge of MS Outlook (email), MS Word, MS Excel.
13. Demonstrable ability to use own initiative.
14. Ability to motivate self and influence others.
15. Experience of Relationship Management.
16. Excellent communication skills.
17. Flexible in personal approach.
18. Full UK driving licence and access to a car for business use.
