We are more than 36,000 people, in over 70 countries, dedicated to improving quality of life. Everyone has an important role to play. With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.
Arcadis has worked on some of the world's leading heat network projects and energy masterplanning/transformation schemes, including supporting the Government in pilot studies for heat network zoning and helping to deliver the City of London Corporation's Climate Action Strategy. We are looking for an experienced heat network/energy decarbonisation strategic project manager, with a passion for district heating and ambition to help achieve our national heat network deployment targets.
Under the guidance of our UK Heat Networks Lead, this role will be responsible for providing project management, stakeholder engagement, and strategy development expertise, in support of building our District Heating Strategic Advisory Services.
At a high level, the primary focus of this role will be providing a range of services to Local Authority and other public sector clients to progress the development of heat networks in their area, such as the development of heat network development strategies, internal and external stakeholder engagement, governance support, managing the implementation of heat network zoning, submitting grant funding applications, management of studies and sub-consultants on behalf of the client, and various other tasks specific to each client we support.
In addition to this, the role will include key responsibilities and accountabilities to lead on the delivery of high-priority projects, manage and develop existing client relationships, support work winning and key pursuits, and assist internal strategic planning, all of which will contribute to growing our ambitious team in an exciting and quickly developing sector.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
* Minimum Masters or Bachelors degree qualification in relevant engineering/technical field and/or project management
* Experience working on district heating schemes and government (BEIS/DESNZ/GLA) grant-funded projects at various stages, from heat Masterplanning to detailed feasibility
* Knowledge of the impending heat network zoning regulations in the UK
* Experience working with local authority clients in the UK and an understanding of their governance structures
* Knowledge of the commercial models available to develop heat networks
* Experience conducting stakeholder engagement activities (either internally and/or externally)
* Knowledge of low-carbon heat generation technologies (air, ground, water and river source heat pumps, and electric boilers) and waste heat sources (including mechanisms to recover waste heat)
* Experience of interacting with clients and involvement with business development including the development of business cases, defining scopes, planning, and delivery of energy projects
* Strong engineering/technical background, with work experience in the energy sector
* Grant funding application and management experience
* An understanding of district heating energy centre and network operation, relating to performance and energy assessments
* Experience of Local Area Energy Planning
* Knowledge and understanding of the energy market, electricity networks, distributed/urban energy systems, and renewable energy technologies
* Experience in procurement and commercial activities, especially developing tender specifications/technical requirements and procuring contractors.
