The Opportunity The Programme Manager will be responsible for the following key functions: Programme Delivery: Day-to-day head office operational oversight of programme delivery, ensuring head contract compliance and adherence to Abt operational policies and procedures, financial and commercial management and reporting, proactive risk management, management of sub-contractors and consultants, staff performance and quality programme delivery. Business Growth: Supporting Abt Britain to scale its work in the UK, including the development of systems, processes and contribution to opportunity capture and project tender preparation. Core Responsibilities Programme Delivery Oversee project planning and execution, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures. Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables to ensure alignment with client needs. Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring successful project delivery. Manage project budgets and resources effectively, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Client Management Achieve high levels of client satisfaction with project outcomes. Act as the primary point of contact for all operational communications with clients. Monitor all aspects of project contracts to ensure compliance with budgets, scopes of work, and terms. Financial Management Oversee day-to-day financial management of projects, ensuring accurate forecasting and budget tracking. Collaborate with corporate accountants to monitor financial health and compliance. Track and report on commercial performance, including monthly profit and loss analysis. Internal Coordination Facilitate communication between project teams and corporate services (Finance, HR, Legal, etc.) to ensure smooth operations. Collaborate with various departments to align project delivery with organizational policies. Team Management Mentor and support junior project managers and coordinators, providing guidance and training as necessary. Lead the recruitment, onboarding, and training of project staff. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members. Technical Backstopping Utilize technical expertise in relevant areas (e.g., climate change, health systems) to support project delivery and ensure quality assurance of key deliverables. Business Development Identify and track potential business opportunities, supporting proposal preparation and ensuring alignment with organizational capabilities. Maintain strong relationships with clients and partners to facilitate business growth. Communication Communicate project status, risks, and progress to senior leadership and stakeholders effectively. Foster collaboration and facilitate effective information flow among project team members. What We Value The successful candidate will need to be versatile and solution-focussed, with good business acumen and excellent interpersonal and organisational abilities. 3 years of relevant professional experience in project management. Basic understanding of donor/client regulatory and management requirements, with a willingness to learn and adapt. Competence in critical project management skills, including budget management and client relations. Experience in supporting technical assistance programs or similar projects. Ability to work effectively within a team and foster collaboration among team members. Strong interpersonal skills with a positive attitude towards challenges. Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate across cultures. Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to risk management. Capacity to manage multiple priorities and support junior staff as needed. Works independently and as part of a team Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and general word processing. UK work authorization or ability to obtain it independently. Sponsorship is not available. Relevant post-graduate qualification Experience delivering on Green Climate Fund projects preferred Foreign language proficiency in a relevant region we operate in preferred Demonstrated experience in business development, including capture, proposal writing and proposal management, preferably on winning proposals for commercial contracts is desirable.
