Hours: 3 days per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) 12-8pm
The Role
The Creative Educator will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head of Learning in the development and implementation of a multi-disciplinary creative curriculum as part of Rekindle. This position will primarily focus on delivering three evening sessions per week, centred around activism, creative writing, and visual arts. This role will initially be for 12 months.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for youth engagement and creative education. They should have a proven track record in facilitating visual arts workshops in youth-focused settings, as well as experience in creative writing and activism. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to inspire and motivate young people, and a commitment to creating a positive and empowering learning environment.
Additionally, the candidate should possess a strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles and be able to work independently and as part of a team. A relevant qualification in art, education, youth work, or a related field would be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Delivery:
* Collaborate with the Head of Learning and Programme Manager to design and deliver engaging, creative, and thought-provoking sessions aligned with REKINDLE’s Snap and Four C’s framework.
* Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity among young participants.
* Facilitate a diverse range of creative activities, focusing primarily on visual arts, but also play a supportive role in the creative writing and activism workshops.
* Create a supportive and inspiring learning environment that encourages experimentation, risk-taking, and self-expression.
Youth Engagement and Support:
* Build strong, positive relationships with young people, establishing trust and rapport.
* Provide guidance and mentorship, addressing individual needs and aspirations.
* Create a safe and inclusive space for young people to explore their identities, beliefs, and passions.
* Encourage active participation and collaboration among young people, fostering a sense of community.
Safeguarding and Protection:
* Adhere to strict safeguarding and protection policies and procedures.
* Identify and respond to any signs of vulnerability or risk.
* Promote the well-being and safety of all young people involved in the program.
Collaboration and Partnership:
* Work closely with the Programme Manager, Youth and Community Lead, and other team members to ensure the smooth running of the program.
* Collaborate with external partners and organizations to enhance the program’s impact and reach.
* Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of the program.
