Job Description An opportunity has arisen within the Accounting Strategy Team at Dundee City Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accounting advice and support for several key areas, covering budget setting, budget monitoring, annual accounts, government returns and capital accounting. Working in a hybrid style, and requiring at least 2 days per week in Dundee House, 50 North Lindsay Street, Dundee, you will work on a full-time basis, 37 hours per week. Responsibilities You will provide day to day operational finance support, and ensure the provision of strategic level financial advice, planning and reporting to allocated Service(s). You will be involved in collection, maintenance and interpretation of information required to provide financial advice and analysis to Council or Joint Board Committees, Members and Officers. The Individual You will have a working knowledge of financial ledger systems and experience of final accounts preparation, analysis of financial data, Revenue Budget preparation and monitoring and completion of financial returns. Experience of Local Government and capital accounting will be an advantage. You will be able to present financial and statistical information to non-finance managers and have good written and verbal communication skills. Excellent IT skills including Excel, problem solving skills and the ability to work quickly and accurately to meet tight deadlines are essential. You will have the ability to manage staff, the ability for form positive relationships at all levels and be adaptable to change. A Standard Disclosure check is required.
