The Project
As a highly experienced Building Surveyor, you will play a key role on the commercial team, overseeing various projects across a diverse range of sectors including railway infrastructure, temporary works, bridges, and geotechnics initially based in Leeds however some nights away will be required. Additionally, you will assess and mitigate risks, contribute to project planning and budgeting, and help ensure the longevity and functionality of infrastructure across diverse projects.
Requirements
For this role it is essential that you carry the following professional qualifications as a minimum;
Relevant Building Surveyor Degree
Full UK driving license and own transport
Chartered Building Surveyor RICS, or working towards
Eligible to live and work in the UK and high standard of written EnglishIt is also essential that you hold the experience below;
Proven history of successfully delivering commercial packages on various projects across a range of sectors including railway infrastructure, temporary works, bridges and geotechnics
Extensive background within the industry with at least 4 years of experience working in a similar position for a well-established civil, structural, and geotechnical consulting engineering firmAdditional skills;
IT skills
Effective time management
Superb negotiation capabilities
Analytical and Mathematical skills
Excellent sales and presentation skills
Ability to multitask and prioritise projects
Strong communication and attention to details
Understanding of construction laws and regulations
Ability to efficiently utilize COINS and MS Excel packages
Knowledgeable of building regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc

Offer guidance on defects, remediation strategies and associated costs
Manage projects and client relationships independently with complete accountability
Recognise potential risks in building projects and suggesting strategies to minimise them
Coordinate with Directors, preparing and managing project timelines, workloads and resources
Conduct inspections, site surveys, and evaluations of structures, and preparing detailed reports
Guiding junior staff in finding solutions and helping other team members in solution development
Liaise with clients, confirming the project scope and ensure that all deliverables are met efficiently
Building and nurturing relationships with new and existing clients by successfully delivering projects
Assisting with resolving disputes related to construction projects, property issues, or damage claims
Calculating the costs for construction projects, including repairs, renovations, and maintenance work
Create long-term maintenance strategies and plans to maintain the safety and functionality of buildings
Developing long-term maintenance strategies and plans to ensure buildings remain safe and functional
Offering professional guidance to clients on construction, design, maintenance, and building regulations
Supervise the assignment of Junior Engineers and Technicians to projects whilst offering mentorship, support, and training
Provide guidance on energy-efficient building practices and supporting clients in achieving their sustainability objectives
Managing contracts between clients and contractors, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
Examine buildings to evaluate their condition, detect any defects, and suggest required repairs or enhancements
Draft comprehensive reports on the condition of buildings, covering structural, mechanical, and aesthetic evaluations
Ensure buildings adhere to safety, accessibility, and environmental regulations, while providing guidance on compliance issuesThis is a permanent position with an excellent salary on offer for the successful candidate.
