Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Practice Nurse to join a dynamic forward-thinking team. Village Health Group (VHG) is a friendly GP practice, across 4 sites within Rushcliffe: Keyworth, East Leake, Ruddington and Sutton Bonnington. You will be joining a team of 9 nurses led by a forward-thinking practice nurse. General Practice Nursing is a hugely rewarding area of nursing. You will help people to manage their own conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, or cardiovascular disease. You will help them to stay well and promote healthy lifestyles whilst also assessing, screening, and treating people from small children to the elderly.
You will have worked previously as a practice nurse and have experience of chronic disease management, including COPD/Asthma; Diabetes; contraception; venepuncture; cytology; as well as childhood and travel immunisations. Experience of using SystmOne would be helpful but is not essential. Site specific training, including the use of SystmOne, will be available, but computer literacy is an advantage.
Main duties of the job
You will need a valid NMC PIN and you must be a registered general nurse to apply. Full time and part time hours will be considered for the right candidate. We are seeking someone who is a team player, who has a flexible approach to work. We are open from 8:00am to 6:30 pm.

Job Description
Job responsibilities:
To work as a Practice Nurse within the organisation taking responsibility for assessing the nursing needs of patients attending surgery with a broad range of long term conditions. All duties and responsibilities to be carried out in accordance with protocols developed by the Nursing Team and in agreement with the Nurse Clinical lead. To provide a high quality, evidence based easily accessible service for patients. To be able to time manage during clinics to ensure a seamless service that is delivered on time, as far as reasonably practical, to the patients.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* To provide treatment room nursing care, including wound management, venepuncture, ECG, routine injection and urinalysis.
* To assess and treat minor illness and injury in accordance with protocols. To discharge or refer patients as appropriate.
* To organise medication and wound dressings with a GP/Non Medical Prescriber as part of a plan of care for an individual patient as needed.
* To assess those patients wishing to travel. To offer basic vaccination, malaria prophylaxis and advice about where to seek more specialist advice.
* To provide contraceptive, sexual health, coil check and menopause advice and administer depo-provera injections according to protocol.
* To provide a cervical screening service in accordance with the National Policy and local NHS recall system.
* To provide childhood and adult immunisations in accordance with the British Vaccination Schedule.
* To visit patients in their homes to undertake work on behalf of the Practice as requested by the GP/Practice Nurse Manager.
* To assist in the provision of care to those with long term conditions.
* To take responsibility for maintaining the register and recall of patients with chronic conditions within the surgery.
* To ensure nursing care is evidence based and evaluated appropriately.
* To take responsibility for the teaching and supervising of the Health Care Assistant, phlebotomists and Nursing students as required.
Qualifications Essential
* Good standard of general education
* Registered Nurse
* Membership of professional body
Experience Essential
* Practical experience of working with others
* Experience of using own initiative
* Experience of working within a Primary Care setting
Skills Essential
* Excellent communication skills (Written and Oral)
* IT skills
* Time Management and the ability to work to deadlines
