Job Summary:
The Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) program provides evidence-based psychotherapy to clients with depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders and stressor-related disorders including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The program will provide treatment to clients with co-morbid conditions including chronic physical health conditions and concurrent disorders (e.g. alcohol and substance abuse), provided these co-morbid or concurrent conditions do not interfere with the efficacy of the psychotherapeutic treatment. All clinicians deployed through this program must be an autonomous member of an appropriate regulated health profession and have some pre-existing training and experience in providing psychotherapy. The Clinical Counsellor (Ontario Structured Psychotherapy Program) provides a cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) service to clients with a range of complex problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. The Clinical Counsellor (OSP) will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary. The Clinical Counsellor (OSP) will participate in intensive training and ongoing audio / video facilitated supervision as part of their role.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Master’s Degree in Clinical or Counselling Psychology; Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other relevant discipline.
* Unrestricted Registration with the relevant college related to the master’s degree and controlled act of Psychotherapy
* Minimum two years post-graduate experience working with individuals with serious mental health issues providing direct therapeutic intervention.
* Expertise in group counselling.
* Previous certified CBT training an asset.
* Knowledgeable in trauma informed therapies, and working from a client-centred focus.
* Certification in First Aid and CPR an asset.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings.
* Experience working effectively within an inter-professional team.
* French Language proficiency considered an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of and ability to apply discipline specific principles and practices to individuals who live with anxiety and depression.
* Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of addictions and mental health symptoms and issues, along with evidence-based treatment, including psychotropic medications and associated side effects.
* Knowledge of and ability to incorporate best practices in community support for individuals living with an addiction and/or mental health issue.
* Assessment and crisis intervention skills with broad knowledge of crisis stabilization.
* Advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
* Ability to effectively utilize community resources and supports to meet the needs of individuals.
* Ability to work within a harm reduction framework.
* Ability to work under pressure within a changing environment.
* Knowledge of the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health.
* Working knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and other relevant legislation.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to effectively engage community services and individuals, increasing awareness of services.
* Well-developed problem-solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills.
* Ability to work remotely.
* Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office and MS Teams required.
* Ability to work within a highly structured service delivery model based on the Provincial OSP program expectations.
* Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have regular access to a reliable vehicle and provide proof of $2,000,000 vehicle insurance. Incumbent may be required to transport clients.
* Required to provide a satisfactory criminal reference check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to hire.
