Head of Quality Location: Greater Manchester Salary: £80,000 basic Car Benefits Work Arrangement: Hybrid (3-4 days on-site in Bury, 1-2 days working from home) Industry: Nuclear, Defence, Construction Shirley Parsons is thrilled to partner with a leading construction engineering firm to recruit a dynamic Head of Quality for their manufacturing site in Greater Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality leader with experience working in highly regulated environments (nuclear, rail, defence, power) with an understanding of manufacturing processes. Head of Quality Responsibilities: To manage quality performance on all projects including design, installation and manufacturing. To manage and improve the Quality Management System which meets, as a minimum, the requirements of BS-EN-ISO-9001, reducing quality costs and ensuring customer requirements are defined and met. Develop and implement the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in alignment with industry standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001). Establish and maintain robust quality assurance frameworks for both manufacturing and installation processes. Lead the development of quality objectives and ensure alignment with overall business goals. Collaborate with clients to understand their quality expectations and ensure projects meet or exceed those requirements. Oversee the quality performance of suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to company standards. Manage the quality assurance team, including training, mentoring, and development of staff. Promote a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation. Collaborate with department heads (e.g., production, operations, project management) to integrate quality practices into all stages of project delivery. Proactively address any quality concerns raised by clients during the project lifecycle. Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) across the organisation. Head of Quality Skills & Qualifications: Chartered Quality Professional (CQP) ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Certificate Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret data and develop strategic solutions to improve quality outcomes. Proficient in quality management software and familiar with modern tools for quality control and reporting. Knowledge of managing quality performance on multiple projects Managing teams of quality professionals through KPI’s and performance metrics Must be able to gain Security Clearance
