Golf Manager Job Description
Styrrup Hall Golf and Country Club is set in 150 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds close to the boundary of South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire (DN11 8NB). The club is a par 73, 6745-yard course offering excellent drainage to guarantee play all year round. The clubhouse has a reputable bar/restaurant & Members lounge which is open 7 days a week. There is also a beautiful Banqueting Room available for Wedding Receptions, Birthday Celebrations, Christenings, themed nights, and other significant events.
Styrrup Hall Golf and Country Club (now part of the BHI Group) has recently undergone a significant upgrade and investment. As part of these upgrades, we are seeking to appoint a dynamic, personable Golf Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the club and drive continuous improvements.
Deliver a seamless, memorable experience for members and customers. Support the club by creating a positive environment, driving golf sales, and potentially exceeding targets while delivering a professional and respectful service.
This role is both strategic and operational, taking full accountability for the delivery of service in the Golf Club.
Responsibilities:
* Liaising with the Directors and other heads of department to deliver best practices, drive change, and constantly achieve business objectives.
* Act as the main point of contact for all members, providing golf knowledge and administrative details.
* Drive the club teams in delivering operational efficiency while ensuring all operational standards are achieved.
* Seek out golf-related commercial opportunities, contributing to succession planning and business growth.
* Be responsible for compliance with all relevant internal and external policies and legislation, including Financial Control and Health & Safety.
* Oversee third-party contracts and service agreements, including facilities maintenance, security, cleaning, and waste management, to ensure the venue is kept to the highest standard.
* Provide strong leadership while managing all golf club activities and supporting new initiatives.
* Oversee the day-to-day setup of the golf club and ensure all areas of the clubhouse are ready for business.
* Ensure the smooth planning and delivery of a first-class service to all members/customers.
* Effectively communicate company standards across the team and monitor adherence to these standards.
* Continuously make improvements to enhance member and customer satisfaction.
* Actively deal with member and customer feedback in a positive and constructive manner and flag any critical circumstances to the Managers of Departments.
* Respond to the pace of the business; remain productive during busy periods.
* Oversee and maintain H&S compliance.
* Promote a cooperative work climate, maximizing productivity and morale.
* Assist with the recruitment process of new team members, ensuring the correct training takes place.
* Identify employees with potential for development and promotions, ensuring the correct development and training opportunities are provided.
* Identify employees who are underperforming and manage their performance systematically to improve and develop them.
* Manage the disciplinary process adhering to the advice sought from HR.
Required Experience:
* A good strong knowledge of golf and golf club practices.
* A self-motivated, charismatic leader with a minimum of 5 years relevant management experience.
* Experience in managing teams.
* The ability to demonstrate keen commercial acumen and the ability to analyze and present data in concise, actionable formats.
* Competent in using a variety of digital applications to manage business processes.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills and an ability to coach and mentor at every level.
