Job summary
A 12 months fixed term position for a Lead Nurse Hysteroscopist has become available in the Hysteroscopy Team based St Albans City Hospital.
Due to the ongoing development of services within the Gynaecology department, this post is new and designed to develop nurse led services within Hysteroscopy.
The post holder will be part of a Rapid Access Team providing quick appointments, testing and treatment to patients.
Main duties of the job
The applicant must be a certified independent Nurse Hysteroscopist, having completed the Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management postgraduate (level 7) Diploma with the British Society of Gynaelogical Endoscopy (BSGE).
They will support the managers and lead nurses in the development of hysteroscopy services, ensuring high standards of practice and they are within statutory requirements.
Having a sound specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience, the successful applicant will manage their own clinics, be able to assess the care needs of patients referring for further investigations or consultation as appropriate.
There is an expectation to undertake audit and research, both independently and in collaboration with others, to improve hysteroscopy services.
With the Clinical Lead for hysteroscopy regularly critically analyse the management of cases, reviewing the rationale for decision making when managing women with complex pathologies.

This post if for hours per week and the shift pattern will be any times between Monday to Friday, 07:30 am to 18:00 pm, depending on the needs of the service.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications:
Essential
1. Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
2. BSc in Nursing or Health Studies. Level 7 qualification in a related subject.
3. Independent NMP (non-medical prescriber) or willing to complete the qualification if required.
4. Leadership/management training / qualification.
5. Teaching certificate or evidence of teaching / mentoring.
6. Post Graduate Diploma in Diagnostic Hysteroscopy and Therapeutic Management with accreditation to British Society Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE).
Desirable
7. Evidence of postgraduate study.
8. Counselling Course or equivalent.
Knowledge:
Essential
9. Highly developed specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience.
10. Confident in the use of PGD's.
11. Proven evidence of management experience and leadership qualities.
12. Experience in clinical governance.
Desirable
