Applications are invited for the position of Locum Consultant in Anaesthesia at the Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust. The post is for 12 months but the trusts are looking for expansion to increase substantive cover in the next 12 monthsLiverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) is a large university teaching hospital and tertiary referral centre with a stimulating and challenging case-mix. Liverpool Women's NHS Trust (LWH) is a standalone tertiary obstetric and gynaecology unit with over 8000 deliveries a contribution to teaching, education and training of both undergraduates and postgraduates is expected at both trusts.
Main duties of the job
LUHFT provides a mixture of elective cancer, benign, orthopaedic, trauma and emergency care and LWH provides care for over 8000 deliveries including tertiary referrals from outside of the catchment area as well as providing a range of gynaecology job description demonstrates an example of the work pattern including on call commitments at LWH but this will be discussed in more detail at pre interview meetings and upon successful role is primarily in delivering care for these areas including dedicated obstetric sessions.

Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant Obstetric Anaesthetist. The outline of the working week is given below, and applicants will be expected to participate in the departments on-call rota. Further clinical sessions are available for applicants wishing to undertake an 11th PA in line with other department members. core SPA are initially included in the job description for newly appointed consultants. This can be increased if additional roles or responsibilities are agreed, up to a total of SPA. Applicants will be expected to undertake appropriate pre- and post-operative visits.

Qualifications
Essential
1. MB ChB or equivalent
2. FRCA, MRCP or equivalent
3. Full registration with GMC
4. Have CCT in Anaesthesia or be expected to attain such within 6 months of interview date, or be included on the Specialist register
Experience and Skills
Essential
5. High standard of clinical skills and expertise in anaesthesia
6. Experience in the perioperative management of high-risk patients undergoing complex surgery
7. Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in: Orthopaedics
8. Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in: Trauma
9. Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in: General, urological and gynaecological surgery
10. Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in: Transfer medicine
11. Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in: Non-theatre anaesthesia
12. ALS training
13. Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
