Job Summary
The Quality Engineer will provide engineering capabilities to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects through engineering and problem-solving skills. They will be responsible for delivering robust manufacturing process technology related to materials, tooling, part fabrication, and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
1. Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving Program Quality Plans.
2. Perform root cause analysis, preventative and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances using the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
3. Manage product development, customer quality requirements, and first article development.
4. Conduct supplier audits and assessments.
5. Promote a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies.
6. Develop technical solutions for complex problems within GKN Aerospace, our customers, and suppliers.
7. Support manufacturing process development and integration for production.
8. Use root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce or eliminate non-conformances.
9. Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers and co-workers.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
* At least 1 year of experience in Quality Engineering, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, with knowledge of composites manufacturing or university coursework in composite materials.
* Ability to work under ITAR/EAR regulations and program requirements.
Additional Qualifications:
* Experience with GKN processes.
* Knowledge of quality system standards such as ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000.
* Training or experience in lean tools and techniques (e.g., Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA, Fishbone diagrams).
* Experience with Lean activities.
* Experience in composites manufacturing, including academic studies.
* Project or program management skills.
* Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or equivalent.
* Strong communication skills, both written and spoken, and customer-facing abilities.
* Fluent in English.
