Location: University Park Interview Date: To be confirmed An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Engineering Stores for an individual to join our busy team as a General Technician. This team supplies consumables and tooling across the faculty, handling goods in, deliveries and other key tasks. We have an experienced, collaborative team of over 130 technical staff, supporting the wider Faculty of Engineering across two of the University campuses. Our technical team work closely with students and staff and engage in a varied portfolio of work across all the University’s engineering disciplines. We believe diverse teams make us stronger. The Role As general technician, you will contribute to the high standard of service provided within our stores. The work you do will support the world changing research and teaching ambitions of the University. You will: Receive deliveries and process delivery information/paperwork Issue items to staff and students, advising students and staff on Stores stock and services Organise and schedule deliveries, undertaking deliveries to various sites (includes driving) Undertake stock checks Use engineering machinery to cut materials for issue Support other faculty teams when the need arises Your Experience Considerable work experience in a relevant role or a minimum of two A-levels in relevant subjects, or equivalent vocational qualifications (NVQ, City & Guild), plus some experience in a relevant role A full clean driving licence is essential A good level of practical skill i.e. DIY General IT knowledge i.e. MS office Your Approach We’re proud of our team and are looking for a real team player to join us.
