As Outside Plant Operator at a biomass power plant you will be responsible for monitoring, operating, and maintaining outdoor equipment and systems that support biomass energy production. Key Responsibilities: Operate and inspect outdoor plant equipment such as conveyors, boilers, fuel handling systems, and cooling towers. Monitor biomass fuel levels and ensure continuous feeding to the combustion system. Assist in startup, shutdown, and operational transitions as required. Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections to identify potential mechanical or operational issues. Assist in basic maintenance tasks, including lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs. Report malfunctions and coordinate with maintenance teams for corrective actions. Ensure biomass fuel (wood chips, agricultural waste, etc.) is properly received, stored, and transported. Operate heavy machinery such as loaders, conveyors, and feeders. Maintain proper fuel quality and moisture levels for optimal combustion efficiency. Follow all plant safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and hazard communication. Monitor emissions, water treatment, and waste disposal systems to comply with environmental regulations. Conduct routine safety checks and participate in emergency response drills. Log operational data, equipment status, and any abnormal conditions. Qualifications & Skills: Experience in biomass, power generation, or industrial plant operations is a plus. Ability to operate heavy machinery and outdoor plant equipment. Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.). Physically demanding tasks such as lifting, climbing, and operating heavy machinery.
