Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Residential Team Leader to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing leadership and support within a residential setting, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of children in our care. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering a nurturing environment that promotes positive growth and development. The successful candidate will work full shifts on a 2 on 4 off shift pattern with sleeps in paid at an additional £60.
Responsibilities
1. Lead and supervise a team of residential staff, ensuring high standards of care and support for children.
2. Support management in overseeing training and development of staff within their roles.
3. Lead and manage the home in the absence of the home's manager.
4. Develop and implement individual care plans and risk assessments tailored to the needs of each child, ensuring all staff understand and work to these.
5. Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging environment that encourages children to thrive.
6. Monitor the daily activities of the children, providing guidance and support as needed.
7. Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
8. Liaise with external agencies, families, and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support for each child.
9. Maintain accurate records of incidents, observations, and progress reports in compliance with organisational policies.
10. Promote positive behaviour management techniques among staff and children.
11. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the residential setting.
Qualifications
1. Previous experience in a leadership role within a children's residential or similar setting is essential.
2. Strong understanding of child development principles and safeguarding practices.
3. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with children and adults alike.
4. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.
5. Relevant qualifications essential. Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent is essential for the role.
6. A compassionate approach with strong problem-solving skills to address challenges as they arise.
7. Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and the needs of the children in care.
