We have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Preston, a category B Prison located in Preston.
HMP Preston is a remand male prison age from 18+ and has a capacity of 680.
The Nurse will be based in the 18-bedded unit in a prison environment.
Hours
Monday - Friday 37.5 hours per week
Salary
This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary between £42094 - £47466 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As a Practice Nurse, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
* Teams will work together at each stage of the patient journey, supporting them as they arrive into prison (Early Days in Custody Team), delivering the care they need, promoting good health and supporting resettlement.
* You need expert clinical skills and demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide-ranging and complex patient problems. You will provide clinical leadership for the Primary Care team and be a critical leader within the scheduled care Team. This multi-disciplinary team is made up of a variety of registered and non-registered professionals including nurses, doctors, and mental health/substance misuse practitioners.
* You will deliver face-to-face care and provide safe and effective health assessments and treatment of patients within the establishment.
* You will be accountable for your own practice, including the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge or referral of patients, independent of medical intervention.

Qualifications required:
* Registered Nurse: NMC registered
* Previous experience as a practice nurse
* Diabetes Diploma / Module
* QUOF knowledge and implementation
* Experience in long-term conditions
* Immunisations and vaccination trained
Desirable:
* Spirometry - Diploma / Module
* Respiratory - Diploma / Module
* Prescribing
Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
