Key Responsibilities:
Provide decisive and effective leadership to ensure high levels of people and organisational performance
Ensure effective, efficient, and economic delivery of public lighting services
Involve team(s) in creating a shared purpose and help them develop and achieve results
Provide clear direction and effective people and performance management through setting objectives and monitoring outputs
Explore and understand team views, adapting style and behaviour to ensure positive outcomes
Utilise HR tools for effective people and performance management
Manage a team of approximately 15 council employees, including apprentices
Ensure works programmes are structured and adhered to
Recruit staff and monitor their development according to council policies
Develop and deliver the Team's Business Plan, providing specialist advice in lighting design
Oversee the work of the in-house contractor (City Lighting), ensuring health & safety compliance and monitoring of profit/loss
Asset/Performance Management and Strategic Development:
Research, develop, and deliver major public lighting initiatives to transform service delivery and reduce energy consumption, costs, and carbon footprint
Develop and maintain the public lighting asset management regime
Manage major projects, chair monthly project and contractor review meetings, and apply measures to correct performance or non-compliance
