Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises is recruiting a Guide to join their friendly and experienced team for the busy 2025 season. You would also train as Crew to assist with other duties as required.
Jacobite Loch Ness Cruises is a Visit Scotland 5* visitor attraction based at Dochgarroch Lock (3 miles South of Inverness city center) and has been providing exceptional cruise experiences on Loch Ness for over 20 years. We are looking for a motivated individual with a passion for storytelling to guide our passengers through the beauty and mystery they witness during their sailing – you will help our passengers to tick the mighty Loch Ness off their bucket list! You will keep our passengers informed, safe and comfortable at all times and you will maintain the highest level of customer service to preserve our ‘Monster Reputation for Excellence’.
The contract is fixed term from mid-April to October 2025 (potential to become a permanent position) full-time preferred however flexible hours available; shift flexibility and weekend working is required. Hours will normally be 0730 / 0830 – 1700 / 1730.
The Role and Responsibilities:
1. Guide our passengers through the beauty and wildlife, the history and the mysteries of the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness – you will explain and inform our passengers about what they see during their sailing.
2. Assist the Skipper in the efficient and smooth operation of the boat.
3. Assist with the passenger count prior to departure of each cruise.
4. Assist the Skipper with the application of safety regulations ensuring the safety of all persons whilst boarding, disembarking, and during their cruise.
5. Carry out bar/sales duties as required.
6. Assist with preparation of stock and daily replenishing of stores.
7. Direct passengers in accordance with procedures in the event of an emergency.
8. Provide information to passengers on points of local interest etc.
9. Report any customer/operational issues to the skipper.
10. Carry out daily boat cleaning ensuring a high standard is maintained.
11. Provide 5* customer service at all times.
Person Specification:
1. Friendly, outgoing and approachable with a willingness to initiate meaningful conversations.
2. Comfortable using audio equipment including a microphone.
3. Confident speaking in front of a crowd, experience in a similar role desirable.
4. Conscientious with attention to detail.
5. Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
6. Demonstrate a pro-active approach to problem solving.
7. A strong customer service background is desirable.
8. Willingness to participate in ongoing training and personal development.
9. Excellent timekeeping.
