The University of Manchester’s Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) seeks an exceptional academic leader to head our People, Management and Organisations (PMO) Division. As we begin our 60th anniversary year, AMBS stands among the top 1% of business schools globally, with a reputation for pioneering research and real-world impact.
The PMO Division is a dynamic, interdisciplinary community united by a compelling vision: creating work environments where people, organisations and society flourish. Comprising expertise in Human Resource Management, Employment Relations & Law, Organisational Psychology, and Management & Organisation Studies, we're tackling crucial workplace challenges through world-class research and teaching.
The Division hosts one of Europe's largest groups of work psychologists and the prestigious Work and Equalities Institute (WEI). We maintain strong connections with international academic communities, policymakers, and organisations including the International Labour Organization (ILO).
The successful candidate will bring considerable academic standing in a relevant field, demonstrated excellence in strategic leadership and people management, and strong international networks. We need a collaborative leader who can promote diverse perspectives and methods while uniting the Division in researching critical themes. These include AI and work futures, equality and inclusion, responsible management, and the changing nature of work in society.
Join us in shaping the future of work and organisations in an institution that combines academic excellence with real-world impact. Together, we can create workplaces where individuals thrive, remain healthy, and contribute productively to society and the economy.
Application is by submission of a curriculum vitae and a covering letter of application, addressing the job description and person specification.
The closing date for applications is 09:00 GMT on Monday 24th February 2025.
