Thames Water is looking for a Reservoir Engineer to join us permanently.
This is a unique and exciting role. You will scope and help to deliver projects in the West London Abstraction area.
You will make use of your technical knowledge and work with key stakeholders to do this. The projects will contribute to high-level business objectives, namely compliance with the Reservoir Act and healthy raw water storage. You will have a real opportunity to shape and influence the future of our operation.
* 38 hours per week Monday – Friday 07:30 – 15:30.
* Location – Staines (STW), TW18 4HA.
* Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence is required, as traveling to inspect/visit reservoirs and raw water pumping stations across West London Abstraction estate will be required.
* Offering a salary of up to £57,000 depending on skills and experience.
What you will be doing as a Reservoir Engineer?
* Work with colleagues to identify short- and longer-term risks to asset performance and resilience, ensuring that this is escalated appropriately on our area heatmap.
* Scope projects, with input from colleagues, and issue formal briefs to our Capital Maintenance Projects team for subsequent delivery.
* Influence future asset plans, making use of asset condition data and other justification, for subsequent delivery by Capital Delivery.
* Identify and oversee the completion of enabling activities for Capital Delivery projects, including the availability of key assets, operation strategies, and health and safety documentation.
* Ensure familiarity with our internal Reservoir Safety Manual and the external Reservoir Safety regulations, taking ownership of the technical requirements.
* Attend interim and annual Supervising Engineers’ inspections of reservoirs.
* Embrace holistic thinking at all times, ensuring that safety and water quality are prioritized while identifying opportunities for operational efficiency.
* Collaborate with colleagues to understand asset condition and ensure our maintenance plan is fit for purpose, actively seeking opportunities to innovate using new technology and data.
What should you bring to the role?
* An understanding of regulatory environments and how they affect operations – Reservoir Safety is key.
* Organisation, prioritisation, and a proven ability to work at pace.
* Exceptional stakeholder management and teamwork experience.
* Previous experience in a utility or other process industry.
* A technical or engineering background would be beneficial.
