EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is a subsidiary of Edvance, which is a joint venture between EDF and Framatome, established in 2018 in charge of the design and the realisation of nuclear islands for new projects in France and worldwide.
In particular, EDF EPR Engineering UK is responsible for the design and construction of the nuclear island for Hinkley Point C (HPC) project and preparing the design replication and engineering activities for the Sizewell C (SZC) Project.
At HPC we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.
For the SZC Project, work on the replication strategy and some early design studies are already underway and being delivered and managed from both France and UK.
We are looking to recruit for the role of Electrical Engineer.
The JDO is managed by HPC, Licensee and Manager of the HPC Project. It is made up of staff from:
- HPC, managing the teams and owning the processes,
- EPR-e, EDVANCE and CNEPE who study and approve design changes as well as non-conformances within their scope of delegated authority,
- Contractors who previously delivered the detailed design.
Within this organization the JDO Electrical Engineer reports to the JDO Electrical Discipline Lead. The position is located on Hinkley Point C construction site.
As an HPC Site – Electrical Engineer, you will:
Be the local point of contact for the management of topics related to electrical parts in the scope of works of the Responsible Designer for both BNI and CI/BoP (cable tray, cables, cabinets, sensors, etc.). Those topics relate to field events such as clarification request, adaptation requests, change request, non-conformance, etc.
In this context the HPC Site Electrical Engineer is responsible for:
- Managing requests in his scope of delegated authority,
- Detailing, proposing solutions and coordinating the resolution of requests with staff in the back-offices,
- Challenging requests and any other topics from the contractors and HPC.
Acting under delegation of the JDO Electrical Discipline Lead and within his discipline, the JDO Electrical Engineer may be responsible for:
- Approving update of deliverables previously issued by the back-office teams and updated by the JDO teams,
- Looking over the continuity and the consistency of the design modified by the JDO teams,
- Making sure that methods, referential, tools, process and delegated authority from the back-office teams are complied with,
- Looking over the interests of the Responsible Designer in the JDO on a daily basis, in particular with respect to topics such as intellectual property and responsibility of the Responsible Designer further to modification of their design by the JDO teams etc
Profile
To be considered the following qualifications, experience and skills are essential:
* Science, Electrical engineering degree
* Experience in Electrical design
* 5 years minimum in specification, design, procurement and installation of electrical components
* Excellent Interpersonal skills, conscientiousness, and quality awareness
* Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
* Experience of producing technical documentation
* Remain focused under pressure, thinking clearly and objectively
* Strong planning and organisational skills including the ability to manage several work streams simultaneously
* Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and build successful relationships at all levels
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills
* Field experience
* Knowledge of RCC-E code
* Knowledge of 2D and 3D design software
* Experience working in a multicultural environment
* Knowledge of the HPC project or previous EPR and associated studies/doctrine is a real asset
* Experience in the management of transverse technical and contractual topics
* Management of multiple stakeholders
* Ability to question and understand the imperatives of other downstream disciplines
* Ability to prioritise and adhere to commitments and deadlines
* Committed to deliver to cost, quality and schedule
* Ability to cope in a technically complex and fast-changing environment, and to respond calmly and rationally to changing aspirations in a deadline-driven situation
