Job Description:
Tata Chemicals Europe (TCE) is one of Europe's leading producers of sodium carbonate, salt, sodium bicarbonate, and other products, from our plants in Cheshire, UK. At TCE, we are embarking on an ambitious transformation journey, structured around 11 core workstreams designed to advance our business and deliver our long-term strategic plan. To drive this transformation, we are seeking an experienced and dynamic Continuous Improvement Manager/Business Improvement Manager to lead process improvement efforts and provide critical support to our Programme Management Office.
Why this role?
This is a unique opportunity to join TCE at a pivotal moment, where you will play a vital role in shaping, supporting, and delivering significant organisational change. You’ll work closely with a small, motivated team reporting directly to the Managing Director, focusing on Strategic Planning and Cultural Change. The environment is fast-paced and varied, with collaboration across multiple departments and project leads to tackle complex challenges and drive meaningful improvements.
In this role, you will:
* Support and enable the successful delivery of multiple projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
* Identify opportunities for improvement by reviewing workstreams and project outputs, driving the implementation of best practices.
* Collaborate with senior leaders and colleagues at all levels to develop, refine, and embed innovative solutions.
* Analyse processes to identify bottlenecks and recommend impactful changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Support the development and implementation of change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions during transformation initiatives.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement by applying Lean methodologies and other best-practice approaches.
This role is a 12-month fixed term contract but may become permanent.
What will I be responsible for?
* Supporting the overall programme and project plan.
* Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives across core workstreams.
* Providing regular updates and risk reports to senior stakeholders, highlighting potential timeline, cost, or operational impacts.
* Promoting the adoption of Lean and other efficiency methodologies across the organisation.
* Analyzing outcomes and measuring the impact of improvement projects.
What you will bring to the role?
We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in navigating complexity and ambiguity. You’ll be someone who asks the right questions, digs deep to uncover root causes, and works collaboratively to implement sustainable solutions.
* Analytical Mindset: Ability to assess current processes and propose improvements backed by data and insight.
* Strong Collaboration Skills: Comfortable working with diverse teams, including senior stakeholders.
* Agility and Adaptability: Able to pivot quickly and adapt to new challenges in a fast-moving environment.
* Commercial Acumen: Awareness of business impacts, with a focus on delivering optimal outcomes.
Desirable Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Continuous Improvement Manager, Business Improvement Manager, or a similar role.
* Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
* Strong project management skills—formal qualifications are not mandatory but relevant experience is essential.
* An understanding of manufacturing processes is beneficial but not required.
This role offers an excellent development opportunity for aspiring future leaders who are eager to take the next step in their career. If you’re passionate about driving change, enjoy working in a collaborative environment, and are ready to shape the future of TCE, we’d love to hear from you.
