Opportunity: Highways Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Highways Engineer who can lead on the technical approval of highway design and traffic engineering projects relating to S278 and S38 schemes.
Responsibilities:
1. Work in the technical approval and management of a portfolio of highway design and engineering schemes associated with S278/38 developments across the city.
2. Lead on project communication with all stakeholders including residents, businesses and elected members throughout the duration of the scheme. This includes answering stakeholder enquiries.
3. Work with other sections and developers to ensure a joined-up approach to traffic management across the city.
4. Have an understanding of GMRAPS and the process of inputting information on the Highways Permits integrated system.
5. Budget and project management of schemes, including the preparation of PIF documents for the costs relating to the recharge of fees to developers.
6. Preparation of Approval Reports for Exec. Member approval, and consultation reports to TMU for Stakeholder engagement.
7. Extensive site supervision experience relating to civil engineering schemes, including footway and carriageway resurfacing and reconstruction, kerbing and drainage.
Qualifications and Certifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
2. Experience in the technical approval and management of highway design and engineering schemes.
3. Strong understanding of GMRAPS and Highways Permits integrated system.
4. Proven experience in budget and project management.
5. Site supervision experience in civil engineering schemes.
Skills and Attributes:
1. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
2. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
3. Knowledge of legislation associated with highways, traffic, and transportation.
4. Experienced in the use of Autocad, Excel, Microsoft Word and Parkmap GIS is essential.
