Band 3G, circa £33,821 per annum, plus benefits
Part/Full Time: Full Time - All roles are available for flexible working including job sharing and part-time unless there are legitimate operational / business reasons why this cannot be accommodated.
The investigation of CCTV data is crucial to murder investigations, and the dedicated role of “CCTV Investigator” exists within the Major Crime Unit. CCTV investigation involves the scoping, downloading, processing, analysing, and compiling of CCTV to support murder investigations.
Staff can expect to deploy anywhere within the TVP geographic area and be in direct contact with the public we serve. Training cannot cover all situations we encounter, and a high degree of initiative and problem-solving skills are required. There is an expectation that staff will work long hours and weekends, should the investigation require it. The analysis of CCTV requires concentration, accuracy, and the ability to link images to other parts of the wider investigation. This work can be tedious but must be completed with absolute precision. Distressing images are frequently viewed, and staff may be required to attend Crown Court to give evidence on their work.
While the work in the Major Crime Unit is demanding, it is also very rewarding. Working on the most serious cases and seeing them through to a successful conclusion at court is the core role. Your ability to work with minimal supervision with absolute accuracy, under pressure, is considered a core skill. You will be working with other highly motivated team members and colleagues supporting each other.
A background in investigation is required for the role, as is knowledge of Windows 10/11, file handling, and video management, which would be very beneficial. These skills will be tested at the interview. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, commitment, and problem-solving abilities.
A full driving licence is considered essential, as the capability to travel across the Force is required to undertake assignments in a timely manner and work flexibly.
Along with all other posts in Force Crime, Intelligence, and Specialist Operations Departments, this role will require an enhanced level of vetting.
The successful applicant will be expected to undertake the established psychological screening process.
