The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
Working as part of a dedicated and professional team of police officers and police staff your role will be to risk assess, investigate and safeguard individuals involved in PIP 1 level crime. You will manage your own workload, building cases and assisting the team with other criminal investigations, as required, to the highest of standards.
Please note this role involves working shifts including weekends.
You will be responsible for liaising with Social Services, Outreach organisations and other key agencies involved with the welfare of vulnerable people; providing support and protection to victims; working as part of a team that carries out criminal investigations and the arrest and interview of suspects, obtaining evidence from victims, witnesses and other sources. You will be responsible for preparing court files and ensuring that investigations and evidence gathering is carried out to the evidential quality standards laid down by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and are compliant with PACE. You will be expected when necessary to attend court.
Skills & Experience
Essential skills and experience
* Proven experience in investigation matters and of conducting interviews to a high standard.
* A working knowledge of criminal law and of the criminal justice system.
* The ability to communicate professionally and with empathy, alert to the dangers of ‘blaming’ and inappropriate language and with a willingness to challenge such behaviour.
* The ability to operate a computer database system and/or the willingness to undertake training and become proficient in the use of Surrey Police systems.
* The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
* A methodical approach to work.
* The ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team.
* A full and valid driving licence is required to fulfil your duties.
