Job Purpose: The post holder is required to assist the Craftsperson or Engineer in their role in terms of construction, commissioning and maintenance activities on Grid and Primary Substation, whilst observing correct procedures are being followed with particular regard to safe working practices. Principal Accountabilities: Ensure safe working practices are observed in line with Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, UK Power Networks Safe Working Practices and Procedure and in line with the Distribution Safety Rules. Assist Craftsperson, Supervisor and Engineers in the Installation, maintenance and testing of all plant, apparatus and cables associated with the Grid, Primary and Distribution network. Assist in fault location and repair of all plant, apparatus and cables associated with the Grid, Primary and Distribution network. Ensure that all works are carried out in line with the Distribution Safety Rules and to demonstrate a strong safety culture. Use of appropriate IT equipment Undertake a system emergency storm role as needed in accordance with network standards and safety requirements. Required to undertake standby on a contractual basis Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Essential The following skills and attributes are important to this role:- Experience of Electrical Installation works or an Electrical Improver. EAL Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installation or Equivalent. Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent. CSCS/ECS Installation Electrical Card/EUSR SHEA Power or equivalent Flexible and able to work in a team environment. Ability to problem solve in a practical way and able to work under pressure. Must have a clean driving licence (HGV License would be preferable but not essential). A good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation Preferred City and Guilds 2339 - Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering or City and Guilds 2365 - Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Craft or equivalent City and Guilds 2382 - Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition) Confined space trained Ladder Association trained Experience in working at heights and working outside is highly desirable.
